About the Foundation

The Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation (CCGF) was incorporated in 2005 as a tax-exempt public foundation created by and for the people of Glynn, McIntosh, and Camden counties. The Foundation now has over $50 million in assets and hosts over 100 distinct funds. Since its inception, CCGF has awarded over $23 million in grants to community organizations in the 3-county region and beyond.

The Foundation joins over 750 other U.S. community foundations as one of the fastest growing sectors of American philanthropy today. Governed by a twenty (20) member local Board of Directors, the Foundation has earned recognition from the National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations, awarded by the Council on Foundations to community foundations that meet the highest philanthropic standards for operational quality, integrity, and accountability. CCGF is a Candid Platinum Transparency participant and an active member of both Philanthropy Southeast and the Council of Foundations.

WHY WORK WITH A COMMUNITY FOUNDATION?

Community foundations have in-depth knowledge of their communities and remain alert to emergent needs in order to respond quickly and effectively. CCGF convenes groups including donors, non-profit leaders and elected officials to work together on community problem-solving. By fostering greater giving and local volunteerism, community foundations have been a tradition since 1914 -- helping bring about thoughtful, effective change.
