The Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation seeks an individual on a part-time basis to serve as Director of Communications, Development and Special Programs. The Director will guide strategy for all communications, website, social media and public relations messages and collateral to consistently articulate the organization’s mission. Other functions will include externally facing duties in program development, donor cultivation and stewardship, and volunteer support. The Foundation seeks an individual that is an experienced self-starter and demonstrates exceptional communication skills.
Communications
- Develop, implement and evaluate with senior staff the annual communications plan across the Foundation’s varied audiences
- Generate online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action. Decide who, where and when to disseminate
- Put communications vehicles in place to create momentum; review effectiveness of communications vehicles and adjust where needed
- Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including but not limited to newsletters, brochures, social media, annual report and the Foundation’s web site
- Coordinate webpage maintenance – ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly
- Track and measure the level of engagement within the network over time
- Assist with the development of messaging for public presentations to the Foundation’s varied constituencies including service clubs, professional organizations, professional advisor offices and other organizations
- Manage all media contacts and press releases
Development
- Support grant research and writing for special projects
- Assist with the research, development and follow-up around prospective donors and fund holders
- Provide information/services to prospective fund holders
- Meet with potential donors and/or community partners to advance the mission of the Foundation
- Plan and implement widening events and professional advisor educational outreach to build partnerships with donors, prospective fund holders and advisors
- Provide staff support to the Board, Development Committee and other volunteers as needed
Programs
- Coordinate and organize “convenings” in the community on issue-based topics and initiatives that engage the network’s varied audiences, specifically
o Forward Brunswick, Environment, Youth Development, Economic Development, Coastal Georgia Funder’s Roundtable
- Provide research and information on topics and initiatives as necessary
Specific candidate requirements include:
- Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies
- Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills
- A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently
- Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to "manage by influence"
- High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels
- Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
- Enthusiastic commitment to work with staff, board and fund holders to improve the quality of life in Coastal Georgia
- Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
